My new goal is to update this blog at least every Tuesday. Thanks to all who have continually asked how the adoption is going.
Through this process, I have begun to think about others in a different light. From time to time, I have had sadness in the fact that, since I'm not physically showing that a baby is coming, people around me can forget that we will soon have a baby. I haven't had much time to feel that sadness for two reasons. 1. I have great family and friends who ask about the adoption and actually act like a baby is coming. 2. I have birthed two babies and have gotten to experience the attention that pregnancy brings. But I have felt a sorrow for the soon to be moms who have struggled with infertility, are going through the process of adoption, and may be treated as less because they don't have a belly to rub. I understand that it is easy for others to forget because there isn't a visual reminder, but I pray that we all remember this when we around someone in the process of adoption. Give those parents the attention they desire, and don't forget that they soon will be parents too.
Our homestudy is coming along great. We had our first interview last week. It went smoothly without any surprises. Most of the questions we had we already answered in our biographical questions. We were asked questions about our relationship, how we parent, what we know about adoption. Hopefully, soon we will be scheduling our second interview. As far as our paperwork, I have a short list to complete. I have to get Boomer her vaccines, have our house guest get his fingerprints done, finish one hour of adoption training online, print a few pictures, and wait for my friends to turn in their reference letters.
Because I know a blog is more interesting with pictures. I am going to add a few. We have decided to decorate the baby nursery in Star Wars! So to help with the waiting. We have started buying the things that we need. And I cannot resist a good sale. Here are some pictures of the nursery.
I was so excited to find this crib! I had read on one of my favorite baby bargain websites, www.babycheapskate.com, that Target had markdowns on baby stuff. This crib normally sells for $159 but I paid $47 for it!! I couldn't believe it. I wasn't really ready to purchase big stuff but I couldn't pass that deal up. The swing and bouncy seat were Molly's. I had given them to a friend, who thankfully still had them and was finished.
My second amazing find at Target was this Fisher Price Rock n Play Sleeper. It normally runs $45-80. I read to buy it if it is under $40 because that is a great deal. I got it for $27!! Again I couldn't pass that deal up. I'm sure you see a theme. Buy baby stuff when it is a great deal. You will eventually use it and save a lot of money. The carseat I got at Babies R Us. I love their Trade in Event. You bring in old baby gear and get 25% off new gear. I'm not sure how often they have this, but I was afraid it wouldn't come back before we got a baby. This is a Chicco KeyFit and runs $189 at Babies R Us. I brought in an old carseat and they gave me a 25% off coupon. This particular color was on clearance for $10 less (not really what I would call a clearance, but $10 is $10). So I paid $144 including tax!! Not much more than the cheapest seats, and for those of you who have used Chicco, you know there is no comparison. The changing pad was $5 and the Diaper Genie was $6 at the Kids' Stuff Sale. It is still going on and you can check it out here www.thekidsstuffsale.com.
And the baby's first Star Wars purchase! I am on the lookout for the ABC book!
Thanks for reading and showing your support!
