Day 6 -- August 4

McFly is a pooping machine!! He pooped 3 times yesterday and once today.  This isn't always common for babies before their closure surgery, especially since his body is paralyzed and sedated, but of course he is a rockstar!  He will need to keep this up after surgery as well.  He is stable and doing great, just waiting for his closure surgery tomorrow.  His ventilator is set at 40% oxygen which is better than yesterday.  Again this could change after surgery since closing him up will add more pressure to his abdomen.  McFly is much more relaxed and chill today.  Yesterday his vitals were perfect but he wiggled a lot even though he was supposed to be paralyzed.  Today they took him off of albumin which helps him not to swell.  He might have to go back on it after surgery, but hoping that he doesn't.  Everyday his blood gases has been perfect along with his vitals.  This is probably what has helped him do so well with not swelling so far, and may be what is helping his intestines to get smaller more quickly as well.

This video was taken yesterday.  It breaks my heart to see all he is hooked up to and how asleep he is.

Despite the medications to paralyze him, he became more active and kept trying to open his eyes.

They were afraid his eyes would get dried out so they had to put tape over them to keep them shut.

Today is the last day of this sign on his bed!!
